Unload the current paper (if any) by opening the roll cover as shown and pressing the
blue button next to the green light.
Remove the entire spindle by pulling firmly toward you. If the paper you want to use is
already on a spindle, skip the next step. Otherwise,
Put a rubber band on the roll currently on the spindle. Remove the roll from the
spindle by removing the 2 black plastic end caps from the non-geared end of the spindle.
Remove the paper. Replace with the paper you need and replace the black plastic end caps.
Note: the paper must be loaded so that it will unroll clockwise when the spindle is
standing on end with the geared end down. Don't forget to remove any rubber bands that may
be on the paper before you take the next step.
Replace the spindle in the plotter with the geared end to the right. Snap firmly in
place.
Place the edge of the paper in the plotter on top on the rounded steel bar and
underneath the clear plastic ridge. Push it firmly up until the green light next to the
blue button lights. Then push the blue button. The plotter should begin to load the paper.
This may be difficult with the wider papers, as both ends of the paper must be in the
correct place.
The message panel on the right will ask if you are loading sheets or a roll; press the
button next to the 'down' arrow (roll load). It will then ask what type of paper has been
loaded. Use the up and down arrows to choose "Coated paper" for standard,
"Heavy Coated Paper" for heavyweight and "Glossy Photo Paper" for
glossy. Press the bottom button after the correct selection shows in the message panel.
Catch the edge of the paper as it exits the plotter and keep it from rolling under.
When the message panel shows "Lower Lever" push the grey plastic lever on the
right all the way down. The panel will then ask you to align the paper; do this by pulling
the edge of the paper towards you and down on top of the spindle until the two right-hand
edges are aligned.
Return the grey lever to the 'up' position. The plotter will now test to see if the
paper is loaded correctly. The message panel will either indicate a misload, in which case
you must start over, or "Continue", meaning you have succeeded. Close the roll
cover and press the button next to the 'down' arrow (Continue) after completion.
The plotter will go through two print head tests before it is available. Please
remember to put all the scraps, including the tests, in the recycle bin.
