Description

The Adobe Acrobat reader is used to display Portable Document Format (.pdf) files, either as a standalone command-line program or, more commonly, as a web browser plugin.

Location

It is available on all department Solaris systems. The package can be found under /usr/site/AcroRead/.

Commands

acroread filename.pdf where filename.pdf is the name of a PDF file you wish to view.

Documentation

See the Acrobat PDF for documentation. If your browser is not currently configured to handle PDFs, you can save the file to disk and run the reader from the command line. See your web browser documentation or a system administrator to set up your web browser to handle PDFs automatically.
